Bio

Kate Ho is the Managing Director for Interface3, a business specialising in software for multi-touch technologies (e.g. iPhone and Microsoft Surface). Interface3 offers the latest expertise on the design of applications to take advantage of touch-based devices; a computing paradigm set to replace the mouse and keyboard.

Kate is currently an entrepreneur on the Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme.

Mainly educated in Scotland, she gained her BSc(Hons) in Computer Science with Management Science at the University of Edinburgh before moving to the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester to gain an MSc with Distinction in Technology and Innovation Management. She is currently finishing her PhD in requirements engineering for next-generation computer-based scientific tools at the School of Informatics at Edinburgh University.

In 2007, Kate won the regional competition for the Scottish Institute of Enterprise’s Business Plan competition for “Techie Team”: a computer repair service which matches computer science students with the customers from the local community later.

In addition, she has had managerial responsibilities in diverse sectors including Sports, Events Management and Computing. As Domestic Fixtures Co-ordinator, Kate was one of the youngest members on the Executive Board of the Scottish Womens Rugby Union (SWRU) and was responsible for the running of the domestic game (age 16+) in Scotland over 2 seasons. She was Head of Operations for a conference for Junior Entrepreneurs in March 2005; attended by 85 people from across Europe, with a budget of £12,000. Later she became the Managing Director for iCUE, a student consultancy company which had a turnover of £10,000 in 2006. She is also involved in a number of Women in Computing  initatives. She is on the organising committees for the Edinburgh Girl Geeks Dinner and British Computer Society Undergraduate Lovelace Colloquium; plus, she also founded the Edinburgh University’s Women in IT group (Hoppers).
